Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI) has received the Silver award in the Zero Waste Initiative Leadership category at the MEWAR Awards 2026, organised by Waste & Recycling magazine. This marks the second consecutive year that AGSI has been recognised in the category for its waste reduction and circular economy practices.
As the region’s largest steel recycler, AGSI plays a significant role in keeping valuable materials in productive use. The company manufactures steel using 100% locally sourced recycled raw materials and recovers steelmaking by-products for further use in local industries, reducing waste and reliance on primary resources.
The recognition acknowledges AGSI’s established practices in material recovery, waste management and resource efficiency, which form an integral part of its operations. These efforts complement the company’s achievements in lower-carbon steel production and its contribution to the UAE’s circular economy objectives.
