2023 Net Zero Steel Plant facility – GHG Independent Verification Statement for Steel Manufacturing Facility in Abu Dhabi

AGSI has been investing in the decarbonization initiatives and improvement of the steel plant and working to deliver its sustainability commitment. The decarbonization efforts are a result of our investments in continuous improvements in efficiency of our steel operations, electrification, transition from fossil-fuel to energy, energy efficiency initiatives, and technological advancements, to name a few.

In 2023, we’ve made significant achievement towards our Net Zero Strategy reducing our carbon footprint in Scope 1 and 2, from 0.2tCO2e/tcs in 2022 to Net Zero in 2023 for our Abu
Dhabi Steel Plant facility, making us the only one steel producer in the region with Net Zero steel production.

Carbon Neutrality – AGSI Achieves Carbon Neutrality for its Steel Facility in Abu Dhabi

In 2023, AGSI achieved Carbon Neutrality of steelmaking operations for Steel Plant Facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in accordance with PAS 2060 for a period of January 2023 – December 2023 with the commitment to maintain to 31st December 2030.

Our declaration of carbon neutrality has been externally assured by DNV.

Independent Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Verification Statement for Steel Manufacturing Facility, Abu Dhabi – UAE for the year 2022

DNV, an independent authority, has verified AGSI’s greenhouse gas emissions, adhering to the standards and criteria set by ISO 14064-3:2019. Our commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility is reflected in our Verified Greenhouse Gas Emission Intensity for the year 2022, achieving a notable benchmark of 0.200 tonnes CO2 equivalent per tonne of crude steel produced.

This achievement underscores our dedication to sustainable steel production and environmental stewardship.

In - Country Value (ICV) Certificate

AGSI has been awarded the In-Country Value (ICV) Certificate with a score of 65.24%, recognizing our significant contribution to the UAE local economy. This certification enhances our competitive advantage in tenders and contracts, affirming our commitment to sustainable economic development.
